William Vince, a Canadian film producer, in a short but prolific career produced 37 feature films including the 2006 Oscar nominated film Capote. He touched thousands of lives with his positive energy and generous nature, before losing a battle with cancer in 2008 at the age of 44. Bill was a man who truly believed in helping people help themselves. The William Vince Foundation was created by Bill's family to honour his legacy and continue his charitable work.
Based in Vancouver, B.C, which was Bill’s home and the centre of his film company’s operations, the Foundation is dedicated to providing support to charitable organizations that assist youth in need from three areas of life that were Bill’s passions; film, sports and overcoming learning disabilities. It is committed to helping advance programs from these areas that integrate the topics of social, economic and environmental sustainability into their work.
The Trustees for the Foundation are Bill’s sister Lyn Vince and Debra Thomas of TD Waterhouse. A board of advisors for the foundation is currently being assembled and its members will be announced in 2009.
